Movember is an annual event which encourages men to grow a moustache to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide. Since 2003 Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.
But the battle continues. Here’s what you can do to help:
-
Grow a moustache: “Grow a mo, save a bro”
By signing up to Grow a Mo, you can get sponsored to grow your tache and raise funds and awareness for the cause. If Growing a Mo is new to you, it’s the perfect opportunity to strike up a conversation with somebody and to tell them the reason behind your new facial hair. Also, you’ll be looking ever so stylish!
-
If you can’t Grow a Mo, make a Move
For many of us out there, moustaches are something we could only dream of. That’s why Movember also incite people to Move for Movember. By running or walking 60 kilometres in November, you will be raising awareness for men’s mental health: we lose 60 men to suicide every hour across the world.
You have the opportunity to Move solo or in a team. Get sponsored and make this count.
-
Host a Mo-ment
Cook up a fancy dinner. Tee up a sports match. Pump the tunes at a party. Or set up a Shave Down – a group shave-off of facial hair to get the month started. Even at your workplace – why not host a dress down day, a pizza day, an anything day is enough to raise some money. By doing so, you will be spreading awareness and boosting morale in the office. Nothing is too little.

Ways to donate
Maybe you don’t have time to Host a Mo-ment, or the energy for a 60km run. You can still help out by donating money to the cause: sponsor somebody you know who is taking part, or you can make a donation straight to Movember at any time of the year.
